YOUTH SERVICE BUREAU OF ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INC.
PROJECT SAFE PLACE – SAFE PLACE COORDINATOR

DEFINITION – Responsible for operation and services of the Safe Place project

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
1. Strengthens agency outreach through improvements in existing Safe Place sites.
2. Expands the Safe Place system to provide greater access for youth
3. Recruits, screens, trains, and maintains Safe Place volunteers
4. Provides presentations in area schools, clubs, agencies, businesses, and organizations regarding YSB programming.
5. Participates in speaking engagements and fundraising
6. Assists in preparing for monitoring visits by funding sources
7. Completes data reports as required by YSB an d Project Safe Place
8. Performs other tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree required in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field. Experience desired.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Support agency goals and the operational functioning of the YSB programs as a whole; willingness to participate in workshops and other opportunities for professional growth; meets regularly with supervisor, maintains commitment to continual learning and quality performance; carries out job duties according to the time schedule established with supervisor, utilizes a strengths based solution focused and trauma-informed approach when working with youth, families, staff and members of the community at large.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY: Knowledge of basic sociological, psychological, and child development principles; familiar with child abuse and neglect issues and teen/youth adult issues; knowledge of area social service agencies; ability to accurately assess situations and organize and implement care plans; ability to work independently and as a part of a team and clearly communicate orally and in written form, ability to deal effectively in a sensitive manner to diverse populations.

LICENSE NEEDED: Valid driver’s license

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Development

HOURS: 16 hours weekly with regularly scheduled day and evening hours.

SALARY RANGE:
This position is non-exempt and qualifies under the Fair Labor Standards Act’s minimum wage and overtime pay requirements.
